On August 28, 2011 at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, Beyonce Knowles announced that she and Jay-Z are expecting their first child.

Early this year, Beyonce Knowles stated in an interview with "USA Today" that she will be taking a break from making music in 2010.

"It's definitely time to take a break, to rechage my batteries. I'd like to take about six months and not go into the studio. I just need to live life, to be inspired by things again."

During the turmoil of Destiny's Child in 2000, She had admitted in December 2006 that Beyonce Kowles had experienced depression from an accumulation of struggles: the publicized split of LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson, being publicly attacked by the media, critics and blogs for causing the split-up, and a longstanding boyfriend (that Beyonce Knowles had dated from age 12 to 19 years) leaving her.

The Dangerously In Love Tour was singer her first solo concert tour, intended to showcase songs from Beyonce's debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. The Dangerously In Love Tour only reached Europe. She toured alongside Missy Elliott and Alicia Keys as ensemble for the Verizon's "Verizon Ladies First Tour" in North America.

The stage of The Dangerously In Love Tour was simple and featured a large LED screen in the back that moved up and down throughout the entire show and displayed video images of Beyonce Knowles and her dancers, as well as some images from her music videos and some prerecorded images with special effects. The Dangerously In Love Tour show also featured a small staircase and platforms on both side of the stairs for her band.

The set list included not only Dangerously in Love material, but also contained a special segment of her show dedicated to her erstwhile group Destiny's Child. This concert also featured songs from Beyoncé's 2003 film The Fighting Temptations ("Fever" and "Summertime"). A highlight for many fans was her performance of "Dangerously in Love 2".

The singles from I Am… Sasha Fierce album "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" were initially targeted to radio on October 7, 2008; however, the singles were premiered on the following day on selected radio stations in the United States. On the same day, a video was released by Beyonce Knowles' record label Columbia, featuring footage on the making of the music videos to "If I Were a Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", and the photo shoot for the two singles and the album.

A deluxe edition of I Am… Sasha Fierce album, which contains bonus tracks, was released simultaneously with the standard version. Mathew Knowles held a listening party for the album in New York on October 22, 2008. Prior to the album's earliest release date, the entire album was premiered on November 11, 2008 through Knowles' MySpace account.

A Spanish-language interpretation of "If I Were A Boy" entitled "Si Yo Fuera un Chico", as well as "El Amor De Mi Vida", are the only confirmed tracks to be included on this issue. Until said full anthology is released, a DVD/CD EP called Above and Beyoncé: Dance Mixes was released on June 16.

In early October 2008, Billboard magazine announced that Knowles was embarking on a world wide tour to support her new album. The tour kicked off in Edmonton, Canada on March 26, 2009. The European leg of the tour started on April 26, 2009 in Zagreb, Croatia, and will end on June 9, 2009 in London, England the last of a string of sold out shows in the UK. For the third leg of the tour Beyonce travels through North America starting on June 21, 2009 in the first of two shows in New York City, USA and then finishes in August with a 4-day stint at the Encore Theater, at Encore Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip. "Beyonce-Conception I Am… Sasha Fierce"

Beyonce Knowles worked on the album for nearly a year, longer than Beyonce had spent on her previous solo albums and records with former group Destiny's Child. She revealed that she had co-written and co-produced over seventy songs. In a statement released on Knowles' official website, she wrote:

"I am in a different place right now and I wanted people to see the many sides of me. The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side. I have taken risks here. I am not afraid and my music will explain it all. There is no label or tag on my sound. It's me and I am so excited to share it with the world on November 18."

Beyonce Knowles' father-manager, Mathew, explained the two-disc album, saying, "Beyoncé was adamant—and she has complete creative control—about dividing her songs. She felt she couldn't mix the songs together. She's in a much different space now than she was one year ago. She's married and in a really good place and this album reflects that." Sessions with producers Timbaland-protégé Danjahandz and The Neptunes were also said to take place, but their records did not make the final cut.

Sasha Fierce

The album formally introduces Knowles' alter-ego Sasha Fierce. Knowles said that Sasha was "born" during the making of her 2003 hit single "Crazy in Love." In an interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine, Knowles noted that her alter-ego is "strictly for the stage." The magazine has described it as "the singer's sensual, aggressive alter ego."

Beyonce Knowles wears a "roboglove" in public to compliment Sasha Fierce. It was Knowles' concept, and New York-based jeweler Lorraine Schwartz made the titanium glove. It consists of several pieces, including a ring, a glove, and a separate component that covers Knowles' upper arm. The glove first appeared in the video for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Knowles later wore it on the red carpet during the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards, on her performance at the Saturday Night Live show, on the cover of Gotham magazine, and in the music video to "Diva".

The electronic bassline of "Sweet Dreams" has earned frequent comparison to Michael Jackson's earlier, rock-influenced work.

In a Billboard magazine interview, Knowles described the two sides of the album: "... One side has songs that are more mainstream and another has my more traditional R&B songs for my fans who've been there the whole time. Some of it sounds like Barbra Streisand, Karen Carpenter and the Beatles around the 1970s." Beyonce Knowles explained at The Oprah Winfrey Show that the difference between I Am... Sasha Fierce and Knowles' earlier solo albums is that it includes more ballads. It is Knowles' first album not to feature any duets or collaborations. The second disc, Sasha Fierce features 80's synthpop, electropop, and electro displayed in songs like "Radio", "Diva", "Sweet Dreams", "Scared of Lonely", and "Video Phone". The songs "Single Ladies", "Radio", "Diva", and "Video Phone The track "Smash Into You", from the Deluxe edition, is played during the credits at the end of the movie Obsessed, in which Knowles stars.

With the audiences for the Academy Awards dropping at an alarming pace with each year, the organizers and ABC have seemingly come up with the perfect solution to get people back on board. Rumor in the industry has it that this year’s gala will feature an amazing singing and dancing number combining some of the hottest stars of today, including Zac Efron, Beyonce and Hugh Jackman.

According to reports from E! Online and MTV, this year’s show will be a genuine singing extravaganza that will hopefully bring back part of the younger demographic, currently leaving by the thousands because the show is too boring and outdated. As it happens, the sponsors are also leaving with the audiences, which clearly puts ABC in quite a hot spot.

"Beyonce will reportedly perform with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens at the Oscars this Sunday in a musical extravaganza directed by Baz Luhrmann. The camp spectacle will also include singing from host Hugh Jackman and 'Mamma Mia' stars (and real life couple) Dominic Cooper and Amanda Siegfried." MTV reports. According to sources on the inside, rehearsals have already started – which, come to think of it, is only natural since the awards will take place this weekend.

Yesterday, it emerged that ABC was having serious troubles with this year’s telecast, as rumors began pouring in that cosmetics giant L’Oreal had dropped out of the ad race. Along with it, it was said, several others were thinking of doing the same on account of the dropping ratings and the target demographic of the Oscars (over 40s), which clearly did not correspond to their target – for instance, L’Oreal addresses young women.

"Besides losing a backer with deep pockets – since 2004, L’Oreal’s Academy Awards spend has added up to a cool $40.9 million, per TNS Media Intelligence – ABC is heading into the week with a significant chunk of unsold inventory. Last year, L’Oreal bought 180 seconds of air time, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus, the second-largest investment behind General Motors (210 seconds). Beyoncé Knowles and her hubby, Jay-Z, were told by D.C. police they had to get out of their vehicle and walk because the roads were blocked off, Beyonce refused.

Earlier this week, as Brooklyn rap legend Jay-Z was returning from his rehearsal for his pre-inaugural performance, Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé Knowles, were stopped by D.C. police. The cops told the couple that they would have to get out of the car and walk the next four blocks to their destination, due to the roads being blocked off.

According to bossip.com, Beyoncé refused to walk anywhere in her heels. The cops refused to let them pass, but luckily the secret service happened to be in the area, to give the couple a ride back to their hotel so they could change, and then return them to the theater. When word got back to Beyoncé on how her Diva-like actions as of lately conflict with her pretend humble, "good-girl" persona, she got upset and has been quoted saying, “I’m not this round the clock diva looking for attention. Beyonce Knowles, in an article entitled "Born to Entertain", alongside classic and contemporary entertainers, was complimented for her stage performances. Beyoncé Knowles - Since Destiny's Child, she has been artistically involved in her career. Beyonce co-wrote most of the songs recorded by the group, as well as her solo efforts. Known for writing personally driven and female-empowerment themed compositions, she has stated that having Jay-Z in her life has changed a few of her thoughts about how men and women relate to one another. Some of Knowles' songs are autobiographical, which she has admitted are taken from personal experiences, as well as her friends'.

Beyonce has co-produced most of the records in which she has been involved, especially during her solo efforts. Although she does not formulate beats and melodies herself, Beyonce typically comes up with ideas during production, sharing them with producers.

Beyonce was recognized as a song-writer during the run of Destiny's Child in the 1990s and early to mid-2000s. Knowles won the Songwriter of the Year award at the 2001 American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers Pop Music Awards,becoming the first African-American female and second overall female songwriter of all time to accomplish that feat. She received three song-writing credits in a single year for co-writing "Irreplaceable", "Grillz" and "Check on It", the only woman to achieve since Carole King in 1971 and Mariah Carey in 1991. In terms of credits, Beyonce is tied with Diane Warren at third with nine number-one singles.

Despite Beyonce' songwriter credits since Destiny's Child, her involvement was a subject of media scrutiny. An issue of Vanity Fair magazine, which happened to feature Knowles on its cover, fueled issues regarding her song-writing credits. In the magazine, she says, "I had written ... seven, eight number one songs with Destiny's Child, in a row." Roger Friedman of FOX News questioned the veracity of her statement. One argument of Friedman involved the credit given to Knowles on her hit "Crazy in Love". He pointed out that the song was written by Eugene Record of the Chi-Lites and was only sampled by Rich Harrison, who produced the track. In a 2004 MTV news report, it was stated, "... Harrison stepped up and wrote the verses and the hook, leaving the bridge for Beyoncé." Friedman also cited songs from Destiny's Child and her solo recordings in his arguments. Another issue spread after Knowles' name was discredited for a nomination given to "Listen" at the 2007 Academy Awards. The Academy's ruling explained that only three major contributors should be recognized during the awards process, and Knowles was the least among the four.

When the song, "If I Were a Boy" initially premiered, Fox News ran a story stating that Toby Gad stole the song from unknown artist, BC Jean after a failed agreement. The articles continues to state that Jean was unaware that Knowles recorded the track. Neither Jean nor Gab have released statements concerning this matter.
